Cataract Surgery and Our Upgraded Intraocular Lens Service
Upgraded Intraocular Lens & Astigmatism Management Service
Our upgraded intraocular lens and astigmatism management service is a benefit we provide to you, our patient, in order to attempt to reduce your dependence on eyeglasses or contact lenses after traditional cataract surgery. This service consists of one of two options:
Toric Intraocular Lens Astigmatism Management Service:
This consists of the implantation of a special intraocular lens during cataract surgery that attempts to reduce preexisting corneal astigmatism for better uncorrected distance vision after cataract surgery. The outcome we hope to achieve is a reduced dependence on glasses or contact lenses when viewing objects in the distance. You will still need to wear glasses for reading and intermediate visual tasks.
Presbyopic Intraocular Lens & Astigmatism Management Service:
This consists of the implantation of a special intraocular lens during cataract surgery that will enable you to decrease your dependence on reading, intermediate, and distance glasses. In order for this lens to work properly, any pre-existing corneal astigmatism must be reduced by placing special incisions around the cornea during your cataract surgery. These lenses generally work best when they are placed in both eyes.
